We hope that the members that attended Alaska Fly Fishers (AFF) November 2022 general membership meeting enjoyed it as much as we did. We were very thankful for all the members that showed up to discuss how they manage all the fly-tying material that they own and continue to purchase. As noted in the “President’s Hook” article, I recently purchased over 2,000 hooks. So yes, I am always purchasing fly-tying supplies.
I again apologize for no December meeting. Luckily, I have been able to move forward with getting my left knee replaced and I have an appointment to start determining what is going on with my lungs.
During the February meeting, Charlie and I will be providing an update on the direction AFF will be taking soon thanks to members input. We are still looking for a Vice-President and Newsletter editor. We will also be discussing the status of the Ghillie position and the gaming permit.
February’s meeting will be Charlie and I giving a presentation covering our October 2022 float trip on the middle Kenai River. Between the photos that Charlie, Mike McCrum, and I took during the trip, it should be a good presentation.
Thanks to the donations provided by Pudge Kleinkauf, there are enough flies to bring back the fly exchange. We are offering a ticket for every three flies that you bring to the meeting. The winning ticket holder will be able to pick a package of five flies and/or beads.
We will also be giving a ticket to everyone for a prize that will be given to the lucky member that attends the February meeting. You will need to attend the meeting to find out what the prize is.
Please remember, the meeting will be starting at 6:00 pm. We will have to be out of the building by 8:30 pm.
